Bali is one of the most popular international destinations for Indian travellers β€” but picking the right month to visit makes a huge difference to your experience. Weather, crowds, prices and festivals all vary through the year. In this guide, we'll walk you through exactly when to go based on what you want from your trip.

The Two Seasons in Bali

Unlike India, Bali has only two seasons β€” the dry season and the wet season. Understanding these two is the foundation of planning your trip.

Dry Season (April – October)

Sunny skies, low humidity, calmer seas. This is the peak season β€” ideal for beaches, surfing, diving, temple hopping and outdoor activities. Expect higher hotel prices and more crowds, especially in July and August.

Wet Season (November – March)

Short, intense afternoon showers with mostly sunny mornings. Lush green rice terraces and fewer tourists. Hotel prices drop significantly. January and February have the most rain.

"For honeymooners, April–May and September–October hit the sweet spot β€” great weather, slightly lower prices, and less crowd than peak summer."

Month-by-Month Breakdown

January – February

Rainy but lush. Good for budget travellers who don't mind occasional showers. Hotels are 30–40% cheaper. Avoid water sports and island hopping during this time.

March

Rain slowly reduces. Nyepi (Balinese New Year) falls in March β€” a unique cultural experience where the entire island goes silent for 24 hours. Very special if you're culturally curious.

April – June

Our top recommendation. Dry, warm, reasonable crowds, good prices. Perfect for first-timers and honeymooners.

July – August

Peak season with European summer travellers. Book hotels 3 months in advance. Ideal for families with school holidays.

September – October

Shoulder season β€” great weather, lower prices, fewer crowds. Another sweet spot.

November – December

Rain returns but Christmas and New Year in Bali is magical. Prices spike in the last 2 weeks of December.
