Indonesia (Bali) Visa for Indians

Bali runs on Indonesia's Visa on Arrival for Indians — simple, but with a fee, a strict 30-day count and an extension process worth knowing before you fly.

Published 27 July 2026 · Updated 27 July 2026

How Indians enter Bali

Indonesia offers Indian passport holders a **Visa on Arrival (VOA)** — purchasable at Denpasar airport or, better, online in advance as an **e-VOA** through the official immigration portal. Either way it grants **30 days, extendable once** for another 30.

The e-VOA is the smart route: you skip the payment queue after a long flight, and the online system catches passport-detail errors before you travel.

The essentials

  • Passport valid 6+ months with a blank page
  • VOA fee: **IDR 500,000** (roughly ₹2,600–2,900 depending on the rate) — card payments accepted at Denpasar, but the machines have moods; the e-VOA avoids this entirely
  • Return or onward ticket within 30 days
  • Accommodation details for arrival forms
  • Indonesia's electronic customs declaration, filed online before landing

The 30-day count — where people get caught

Day 1 is your arrival day, not the day after. Overstays are charged per day at IDR 1,000,000 — an expensive rounding error. If your trip is 29–31 days, book the extension plan from day one.

Extending in Bali

The one-time 30-day extension is done through an immigration office (Jimbaran serves most of tourist Bali) and involves biometrics — plan for two office visits or use a reputable local agent. Start the process at least a week before expiry.

Beyond the beaches

We build Bali properly: Ubud's rice terraces and temples, Nusa Penida boat days, Uluwatu sunsets — with drivers we've actually vetted and hotels matched to honeymoon, family or friends-trip budgets. The VOA is the easy part; the itinerary is where a trip is won.

FAQ

Is Bali visa-free for Indians?

No — visa-free applies to ASEAN nationals. Indians use the VOA/e-VOA described above.

Can I pay the VOA in rupees?

No. IDR is the official basis; cards work, and the e-VOA takes online payment in advance — our recommended route.

Does the VOA allow work or long stays?

Strictly tourism and short business meetings. Remote-work stays beyond 60 days need Indonesia's other visa categories — ask us before planning a long stint.

More questions, answered

Can I pay Bali's visa on arrival by card?
Yes at Denpasar's counters, though machines occasionally fail — which is why we recommend the e-VOA paid online before flying. It is the same IDR 500,000 without the queue.
Do children pay the full Bali VOA fee?
Yes — the VOA is charged per passport regardless of age, including infants with their own passports. A family of four should budget about ₹11,000 for entry alone.
What is the best season for Bali from India?
April–October is the dry season and ideal; July–August and New Year peak hard. May, June and September hit the sweet spot of weather and fair hotel pricing.
