Singapore visa rejected: what ICA tells you and when to re-apply

Rule as of 31 October 2026 · Sources: ICA: why is my visa application rejected, ICA: waiting time to re-apply after rejection, ICA: how to appeal a visa rejection, High Commission of Singapore in New Delhi: visa information (page updated 11 August 2026)
If your Singapore visa is rejected, ICA will not tell you why, and you can apply again straight away because there is no waiting period. You can also appeal within one month of the rejection, but the appeal needs a letter signed by your local contact in Singapore and generally takes 14 working days.
Below is what each route needs, what to check in your file before it goes back in, and what to do about flights and hotels.
What ICA says about rejected visas
Singapore's Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) decides every visa application. Three of its published answers matter after a refusal:
- No reason is given. ICA's answer is that it "does not disclose the reason of rejection due to confidentiality of information".
- No waiting time. ICA says there is no waiting time to re-apply for the same applicant.
- Appeal within one month. You can appeal within one month from the date of the rejection, through ICA's enquiry form.
The High Commission of Singapore in New Delhi names one cause on its visa page: incomplete forms or documents may lead to a rejection or a delay. No official source lists other reasons. If a website tells you exactly why your file failed, it is guessing.
Route 1: apply again
A fresh application is a new file. Like every Indian application, it goes in through an authorised visa agent, and the fee is charged again.
- Visa processing fee: INR 2,100 per application, paid when you apply. The High Commission says this fee is non-refundable whatever the outcome, and also if you withdraw after submission.
- Authorised visa agents add their own service fee on top.
- Processing time: generally 3 to 5 working days, not counting the day of submission, weekends and public holidays. The High Commission adds that some applications take longer.
Because ICA gives no reason, the part you control is the file itself. Go through it line by line before it is submitted again.
What to check before you re-apply
These are the published requirements for a business or social visit visa. Each one is something you can correct.
- Form 14A. ICA assesses your application on the information you declare in this form, and you sign it. Check that names, passport number, dates and addresses match your passport and your other documents exactly, and that no field is left blank.
- Passport validity. Your passport must be valid for at least six months from the date you enter Singapore. Count from your planned arrival date, not from the day you apply.
- Photo. Colour, 35 mm wide by 45 mm high, taken within the last three months, on a plain white background with no borders or shadows. Full face with upper shoulders, facing forward, eyes open. Hair must not cover the eyebrows or eyes. Avoid white clothing and white headgear. Spectacle frames must not cover the eyes, and lenses must not reflect or glare.
- Letter of Introduction (Form V39A). This may be asked for case by case. The local contact who gives it must be a Singapore citizen or permanent resident aged at least 21. For a business visit, the contact must act for a Singapore-registered business. If you cannot get a letter from a local contact, the High Commission says a letter from your own embassy or High Commission may be accepted.
- Translations. All documents in Hindi, including official notes, must be translated into English.
If something has changed since the first application, such as a new passport, a different reason for the trip, or a friend or relative in Singapore who can now give a letter, make sure the new file shows it.
Route 2: appeal the rejection
An appeal asks ICA to reconsider the application it already refused. ICA asks for these with the appeal:
- A copy of the applicant's passport biodata page
- A letter signed by the local contact, asking ICA to reconsider and giving the reason
- Any other supporting documents
- The local contact's NRIC date of issue
The deadline is one month from the date of the rejection. ICA says an appeal generally takes 14 working days, depending on how complex it is, and each appeal is assessed on its own merits. The local contact checks the status online through ICA's Enquire Application Status function.
The appeal is built around the local contact: they sign the letter and they track the outcome. If nobody in Singapore can do that for you, a fresh application is the route open to you.
Fourteen working days is close to three calendar weeks. If you fly sooner than that, an appeal will probably not come back in time, and a corrected fresh application at 3 to 5 working days is the faster route.
Hold off on non-refundable bookings
The High Commission says you do not need a flight ticket to apply for a Singapore visa. If you buy one anyway and the visa is refused, or the approved visa does not cover your dates, the loss is yours. After a rejection, keep flights and hotels on hold, or on fares you can change, until the new visa is approved.
A visa is also not the final word on entry. ICA officers at the checkpoint decide whether you are let in and for how long, and you need a valid passport, enough money for your stay and a confirmed onward or return ticket where it applies.
If Singapore is a stop on a longer trip
Indian nationals passing through Singapore to or from a third country may qualify for the 96-hour Visa Free Transit Facility instead of a visa. You need an onward air, ferry or cruise ticket leaving within 96 hours, and a visa or long-term pass from Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, the UK or the US that is valid for at least one month from your entry into Singapore. Stays under this facility cannot be extended.
If your dates are fixed and Singapore is not working out, our list of visa-free countries for Indians shows where you can go without applying in advance. For a first trip abroad, the first international trip checklist covers passport, money and bookings in order.
How we handle a re-application
Send us the refused file on WhatsApp at +91 97199 96838 (Mon to Sat, 10am to 8pm). We check the Form 14A, passport, photo and any Letter of Introduction against the list above, tell you what we would change, and confirm the full price in writing before you pay. We prepare the file and submit it through an authorised visa agent.
Current fees and options are on our Singapore visa page. For trip costs and planning, read the Singapore trip guide from India. If you want the visa, hotel and tickets on one booking, the Singapore 4-night city package includes visa filing through an authorised agent.
